Karrine Steffans, a N.Y. Times Best Seller. What’s the Problem?

I never knew about Karrine Steffans (Confessions of a Video Vixen, Book I) before August 2007. I was introduced to her autobiography by a lady for whom I worked with name Sharon, at a temp job at the time (I hated that assignment very much). I realized that Sharon reads a lot of books, so we began talking about various authors and what interest us, mystery, romance, drama, entertainment, etc. Sharon said “Read this” handing me a book with a sexy young woman on the front cover. “What is this book about?” I asked, “Chicken Head” she replies over her prescription glasses. OK I said to myself and laughed, on the train that day immediately I began reading, reading and reading excessively. A white guy on the train said “Oh you’re reading that book? That’s Super head right?” he said with a cocky nasty smile and aura. “Yeah, it’s good so far, I just started” I replied and went back to reading. I finished Karrine’s book within 3 days shocked, yet so happy about her courage that a lot of women don’t have, ever. I visited her website http://www.karrine.com/ with anticipation, video blogs and short clips of T.V. appearances for days admiring her success. Moreover, when I mention/asked people about her whom I always referred to her by government name, no one knew who I was talking about, so I said with annoyance “Oh Goodness Super head!” Replies from people were sickening, sad, hateful, jealous, and uneducated. To top it off a lot of those individuals haven’t even read the first page or know what the front cover of the book appears like, their acuity was pedestal on media, youtube videos, and word of mouth etc. I personally disputed with a lot of people with various opinions because they didn’t read the book (even up to a couple of weeks ago with a air headed co-worker, no she’s really dizzy!), and just jumped to conclusion and me. Then asked me, “You admire that chick or something?” where replies. “I don’t care what she have done, at least she’s not hiding it, and trying to pretend to be Ms. Prissy at the same time, have you been on her website and observe? Have you seen here house, son and vehicle? Do you know what she has been through family and friend wise? What do you know? I asked with a raised eye brow, “No! For what that garbage and blah blah blah?” You see I not only look at the material things, I asked what I know, and was proud to voice her accomplishments. Of course I won because I knew what I was talking about.


With that being said Karrine released another book (Vixen Diaries); I didn’t run to read it right away because I believe everything has a timing and rationale. Furthermore, I went to the NY Public Library to drop of a due book (James Patterson, Suzanne Letter to Nicholas) yesterday August 12, 2008, having no clue of what to read next. So I borrowed Vixen Diaries and similar as before just kept reading, reading and reading. Prior to reading, I have read reviews on Barnes and Noble website (most where good) http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Vixen-Diaries/Karrine-Steffans/e/9780446582261/?itm=2 from people who have read the book, if I was a close minded personage I wouldn’t have read the book at all. Thank God I am educated to a higher extent (bite that) than most people. For example, I was on the phone with my friend Gregory last night, “Whatcha doing pumpkin?” Gregory asked, “Reading, you know me at time” I said. “What are you reading?” he asked “Vixen Diaries” I replied, “Garbage” he said with his grumpy tone (the usual). I said “What’s garbage, this is her second book, she’s doing well plus you haven’t even read her first book?” I said. “All she do is write about all those celebrities she slept with” he argued back. I replied back as the debater that I am “No this book is about what she has accomplished, learned, experience, challenged and gain since her first book and I respect her honesty”, he said nothing more. Anyway, my main idea of this blog is as follows. Not sure what people thought of Karrine’s second book, but life directions can’t be the same all the time, you have to differentiate some how with each blessing from God. Success and goals in life is not to be with anyone in mind, only oneself. Most people prolong with a pessimistic life until they die, others overcome and return to failure, lastly, a lot succeed and live to write and talk of it.
In addition (I wrote more than I thought I would), a sad majority of populace are use to scandal, excessive sex topics, drama, partying, cheating, alcohol, drugs, money, and out of this world life styles, mostly negativity. That when lives of people who have struggle to find peace placidly and safely, are heading towards a positive, manageable, happier, experienced, and civilize life, another fault is found. That’s too much success for him/her? Who does she think she is? He/She will always be a blah blah? Come on people the past is the past… Sad to say with Karrine Steffans second book and third book to come, still most populace don’t see a respectable growing purpose. No matter what, it’s to show how most prefer a miserable life style to continue with an ending such as “She/he was a good for nothing, took up space, just worthless and yada yada yah” A sealed mind is hard to unbolt.
